MARY’S KITCHEN 2010 EXPANSION

In May 2010, Rebuilding Orange County Together proposed that they undertake a major expansion project at Mary’s Kitchen with the funds provided by MLB and B of A. The city of Orange enthusiastically supported the modifications.  ROCT obtained a 40 x 24 trailer increasing the kitchen working area by 160%.  They outfitted the trailer with sinks, storage racks and made it habitable. They moved the serving area and ramp to the north side of the kitchen and added all the stairs that were needed.  They also provided portable covers in the eating area.  They also installed a concrete pad in the receiving and sorting area as well as installing our large freezer.

The additional space has been greatly appreciated and welcomed by all the volunteers to enhance our ability to serve a larger number of guests. 

The dedication took place on July 10 2010 and attended by the Orange city council, Major League Baseball Representatives and Bank of America officials along with many volunteers from B of A and local banks completing some of the final touches.  The photos show the dedication and changes.
